Overview
Macross Ii was greenlit to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Macross series, and was a sequel set lxxx years later on Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: The Movie. Information technology was the first serial in the franchise to exist produced following the Heisei period, post-obit the cease of the production of Super Dimension Fortress Macross and the 1987 OVA serial The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Flash Back 2012.
Product
Several staff from the original returned, such as grapheme designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, screenwriter Tomita Yuhiro, sound managing director Yoshinori Honda and several others. Withal, Studio Nue did not participate in the production, and was instead led by AIC.
Kazumi Fujita was originally going to be the mechanical designer, but left the project early on and was then taken over past Koichi Ohata. Masami Otaki too took over the impressive mecha animation during the fifth episode. Meanwhile, Shiro Sagisu composed the music for the series.

Release
All six episodes were dubbed by Animaze and released across three VHS volumes by US Renditions, each volume contained two episodes. The first two volumes toll $24.95 each and members of Books Nippan Fan Lodge only had to pay $21.95.[1]
The DVD version contains all half dozen episodes in i parcel of 2 DVDs, and was released on June 25, 2001. Bandai published the OVA on Blu-ray, which contained two discs, on July 25th 2014. The latter is a digital remastered version of the Hard disk drive negative browse.[2]
